(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 30, 2015 ) Dalston, London -- In a music industry rocked by numerous classic recording studio closures, famous bands and some of the worlds most respected musicians are now making their way to a very special music recording studio in Dalston where a timeless Motown DIY ethos meets trendy East London mainstream gentrification.
From its modest birthplace in a converted carriage workshop, WAX has become host to an impressive list of bands and musicians all keen to find out what the buzz is about. Recent clients have included Roachford, Amy Winehouse Band, Swing Out Sister, Paul Jackson of Herbie Hancock's Head Hunters, Noah & the Whale, and many others.
Robert Strauss, the Canadian music producer set up the studio sometime in 2010 in his living room, an ex-squat just off Brick lane. Strauss explains: "Having worked as a music producer in Toronto for many years, when I came to London I had all this equipment and no place to put it, so I just set it up in my living room, made an arrangement with the neighbours and we made music history for about 3 years. As rents in Shoreditch started to skyrocket, I was forced to relocate and found partner JB Pilon who came on board during studio relocated up the road in Dalston."
"I work in all musical genres, and for me it's about energy and people," stresses Strauss. "I have had the honor and joy of working in so many genres. It's all one music, it's all one people. [It's] a true privilege to be included in so many creative circles, and one that I wouldn't trade for the world."
Robert Strauss has more than 20 years' experience in the music and entertainment business, and his work is respected by DJs, radio presenters, and avid music fans from all over the world. Strauss has worked as an artist-musician, producer, and sound engineer, and he has also worked to produce scores for films and TV shows.
JB Pilon is a French Music Producer and Engineer who has also established a stellar reputation among UK music producers, and with his band, Grace Moon & the Jaguar.
Robert continues:
"We realized there we're literally only a handful of studios to record live bands left in London, and thought taking it back to the basics just like they did back in the house of Motown was a way to get things moving in the industry again,"
"Most people record on their laptops today one at a time using a mouse and a pair of headphones, but I wanted Wax Recording Studios to provide a place where musicians and creative minded people are all able to get together and play in same room, reconnecting them with the roots of where the recorded industry started."
